Research Projects

Home > Membership > Research

As a teacher-driven organisation, we are committed to supporting and disseminating the findings from action-based research conducted in schools.

Our programmes encourage members to explore what works in schools, in a range of contexts, to create an evidence base that can be applied across our network. Reports from these research projects are summarised below.

  • Why we believe in research
  • To promote informed decision-making regarding teaching practice
  • To challenge current teaching methods
  • To establish a forward-thinking approach in the profession
  • To give the profession an authoritative voice in education policy

Through collaboration and discussion with fellow delegates and conference leaders, Primary and Secondary Leadership Programme members begin to define their projects at our introductory residentials. Schools Programme members are invited to begin research projects if they choose to progress onto our Associate Department Scheme after three years of membership. These projects are often inspired by the work of other members, and tend to build on an aspect of departmental work that has already been identified as particularly interesting or pressing.

Our next Secondary Leadership Residential will be in January 2018
